BARBRA STREISAND ""HONOREE"" - 31st KENNEDY CENTER HONORS, 2008

CAROLINE KENNEDY opens the Kennedy Center Honors award ceremony. Queen Latifah introduces honoree BARBRA STREISAND at the 31st Kennedy Center Honors awards ceremony. Barbra's biography is shown on screen. GLENN CLOSE comes out to introduce the performers paying tribute to Barbra - IDINA MENZEL "Don't Rain On My Parade"; BEYONCE, "Memories" from 'Cats'; Ne-Yo "Lover Come Back To Me; and KELLI O'HARA & NATHAN GUNN, "Somewhere". Can anyone help me with name above? Thanks.

The other honorees this evening are Morgan Freeman, George Jones, Twyla Thorp, and The Who [Roger Daltry & Pete Townshend]. I have posted them all separately.

The following comment was made on my previous posting of this video - there were many wonderful comments for Barbra but they were deleted along with the over 600 other videos I had posted, because of copyright infractions! I managed to save the comments but there is not enough room in this descripton section to show more than the following one...

It is rare to find a singer that can sustain notes as Barbra does (except in opera and there must be one or two somewhere), although I think Mariah can do it, maybe not as long.

Beyond her extraordinary vocals, Streisand has this amazing technique of breath.

There is no one like her, no one.

I'm a singer myself and have learned so much from her.
